Very special and old candle lantern, known as a Fourgon Lantern, featuring a side‑mounted candle holder. Reportedly Swiss and used by the Swiss Army. The “glass” is made of Cellon, an early form of plastic, and appears to be original.
Fourgon is French for wagon or cart; this type of lantern was often hung from the shaft of a vehicle.

Dating: Unknown, estimated 1930s/1940s.
A regular candle is currently fitted, but originally it should hold a 25 mm candle. Because of that, the candle sits a little loosely, though it is kept in place by a small aluminium candle holder.
